VILLAGE TEMPLES
The village Gonpa or temple is the center of Bhutanese life. Villagers follow Buddhist tradition in providing food from their crops to the resident monks and lamas, but usually do not have money to support maintenance and rebuilding of temples and annual Drupchen “Great Accomplishment” ceremonies. Ewam Bhutan Development Fund provides financial support to maintain village temples, to enact annual ceremonies and to provide social welfare as needed especially for the elderly.
